Remove the M.2 drive

Use this information to remove the M.2 drive.

Before removing the M.2 drive:

  1. If the server is in a rack, remove it from the rack.

  2. Remove any locking device that secures the server cover, such as a Kensington lock or a pad lock.

  3. Remove the server cover (see Remove the server cover).

  4. Obtain a #1 Phillips screwdriver

To remove the M.2 drive, complete the following steps:

  1. Using a #1 Phillips screwdriver, remove the screw that secures the M.2 drive to the system board.
  2. Pull the M.2 drive away from the connector at an angle of approximately 30 degrees.

After removing the M.2 drive:

If you are instructed to return the defective component, please package the part to prevent any shipping damage. Reuse the packaging the new part arrived in and follow all packaging instructions.
