Install the rear fan

Follow this procedure to install the rear fan.

Power off the server for this task

CAUTION

The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

Before installing the rear fan

1. Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.

To install the rear fan, complete the following steps:

1. Align the four rubber mounts on the rear fan with the corresponding holes on the rear of the chassis.

2. Gently pull the tips of the four rubber mounts out from the holes until the rear fan is secured to the chassis.
3. Connect the fan cable to the system board (see Cable routing for the fans).
