Intermittent external device problems
Complete the following procedure to solve the problem.
Make sure that the correct device drivers are installed. See the manufacturer's website for documentation.
For a USB device:
Make sure that the device is configured correctly.
Restart the server and press the key specified in the on-screen instructions to display the Lenovo XClarity Provisioning Manager system setup interface. Then, click .
Connect the device to another port. If using a USB hub, remove the hub and connect the device directly to the server. Make sure that the device is configured correctly for the port.
Intermittent KVM problems
Complete the following procedure to solve the problem.
Video problems:
- Make sure that all cables and the console breakout cable are properly connected and secure.
- Make sure that the monitor is working properly by testing it on another server.
- Test the console breakout cable on a working server to ensure that it is operating properly. Replace the console breakout cable if it is defective.
Keyboard problems:
Make sure that all cables and the console breakout cable are properly connected and secure.
Mouse problems:
Make sure that all cables and the console breakout cable are properly connected and secure.
Intermittent unexpected reboots
If the reset occurs during POST and the POST watchdog timer is enabled, make sure that sufficient time is allowed in the watchdog timeout value (POST Watchdog Timer).
To check the POST watchdog time, restart the server and press the key specified in the on-screen instructions to display the Lenovo XClarity Provisioning Manager system setup interface. Then, click .
If the reset occurs after the operating system starts, disable any automatic server restart (ASR) utilities, such as the Automatic Server Restart IPMI Application for Windows, or any ASR devices that are installed.
