Remove a 2.5-inch hot-swap drive

Use this information to remove a 2.5-inch hot-swap drive.

Before you remove a 2.5-inch hot-swap drive, complete the following steps:

  1. Back up all important data before you make changes to drives.

  2. Read Installation Guidelines to ensure that you work safely.

Note
If one or more NVMe solid-state drives are to be removed, disable them beforehand in OS.

To remove a 2.5-inch hot-swap drive, complete the following steps:

  1. Press the release latch.
  2. Rotate drive handle outward to disconnect the drive from backplane.
  3. Pull the release handle to remove the drive from the bay.

If you are instructed to return the drive, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
