Disassemble the system board assembly for recycle

Follow the instructions in this section to disassemble the system board assembly before recycling.

Note
Make sure you have the required tools listed below available to properly replace the component:
  • Phillips #1 head screwdriver
  • Phillips #2 head screwdriver
  • SR675 V3 Misc kit

About this task

Before disassembling the system board assembly:

  1. Remove the system board assembly from the server. See Remove the system I/O board or processor board.
  2. Remove the Firmware and RoT Security Module from the system I/O board. See Remove the firmware and RoT security module.
  3. Refer to local environmental, waste or disposal regulations to ensure compliance.

Procedure

  1. Remove the following components from the processor board as illustrated:
    • Use a 8 mm hex socket with a screwdriver to remove the two spacers.
    • Use a Phillips #2 screwdriver to remove the two screws and one cable wall bracket.

  2. Hold the two lifting handles, and carefully turn the system board assembly over.

  3. Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove the two screws from the bottom of the supporting sheet metal.

  4. Hold the two lifting handles, and carefully turn the system board assembly over.

  5. Remove the following components from the system board assembly as illustrated:
    • Use a 5 mm hex socket with a screwdriver to remove the two hex nuts.
    • Use a 7 mm hex socket with a screwdriver to remove the five guide pins.
    • Use a Phillips #2 screwdriver to remove the lifting handle.
    • Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove the nine screws.

  6. Separate the system board assembly from the supporting sheet metal.

After you finish

After disassembling the system board assembly, recycle the unit in compliance with local regulations.
