Remove the NVMe drive and PCIe switch board cage

Follow instructions in this section to remove the NVMe drive and PCIe switch board cage. The procedure must be executed by a trained technician.

Procedure

1. Make preparation for this task.
   1. Pull the system shuttle to the stop position.
      1. Press the two blue release latches.
      2. Rotate the two release levers until they are perpendicular to the shuttle.
      3. Pull the shuttle forward until it stops.

   2. Remove the front fan cage. See Remove the front fan cage.
2. Pull the NVMe drive and PCIe switch board cage to the stop position.
   1. Unfasten the four screws marked with B on both sides of the system shuttle.
   2. Simultaneously press the two blue side latches.
   3. Pull the cage forward until it stops.

3. Disconnect the following cables:
   • The power cable from the 2.5-inch drive backplane
   • The cable from the integrated diagnostics panel
   • The power and signal cables from the M.2 backplane
   • The power cable from the OCP interposer card
   • Three cables connected to the system board (two signal cables and one sideband cable), and the power cable from the PCIe switch board
4. Remove the cable connecting the system I/O board to the system board.
   1. Loosen the two screws securing the cable.
   2. Remove the cable from the system I/O board.

5. Remove the USB assembly.
   1. Disengage the USB assembly from the NVMe drive and PCIe switch board cage
      1. Unfasten the top and bottom screws on the USB assembly.
      2. Slightly slide the USB assembly forward.

   2. Unfasten the two center screws securing the plate to the USB assembly.

   3. Slide the USB assembly inward to remove it out of the NVMe drive and PCIe switch board cage.

6. Remove the NVMe drive and PCIe switch board cage out of the system shuttle.
   1. Simultaneously press the two blue side latches.
   2. Remove the cage out of the system shuttle.
