Technical specifications

Summary of the technical specifications of server. Depending on the model, some features might not be available, or some specifications might not apply.

Processor
Supports multi-core Intel Xeon processors, with integrated memory controller and Intel Mesh UPI (Ultra Path Interconnect) topology.
  • Up to four 4th Gen Intel Xeon scalable processors with minimal requirement of two installed on the system board assembly
  • Designed for LGA 4677 sockets
  • Scalable up to 60 cores
  • Supports 4 UPI links per processor supporting 12.8 GT/s, 14.4 GT/s and 16 GT/s speeds

Memory

  • 64 dual inline memory module (DIMM) slots that support up to 64 DRAM DIMMs
  • Memory module type:
    • TruDDR5 4800MHz RDIMM: 16 GB (1Rx8), 32 GB (1Rx4, 2Rx8), 64 GB (2Rx4), 96 GB (2Rx4)
    • TruDDR5 5600MHz RDIMM: 128 GB (2Rx4)
    • TruDDR5 4800MHz Value RDIMM: 32 GB (1Rx4), 64 GB (2Rx4)
    • TruDDR5 4800MHz 3DS RDIMM: 128 GB (4Rx4), 256 GB (8Rx4)
  • Speed:
    Note
    Operating speed depends on processor model and UEFI settings.
    • 4800 MT/s for 1 DIMM per channel
    • 4400 MT/s for 2 DIMMs per channel
  • Minimum memory: 32 GB
  • Maximum memory: 16 TB

M.2 Drive
The server support up to two internal M.2 drives with the following capacity:
  • SATA M.2 drive:
    • 128 GB
    • 240 GB
    • 480 GB
    • 960 GB
  • NVMe M.2 drive:
    • 480 GB
    • 960 GB
The following form factors are supported:
  • 42 mm (2242)
  • 60 mm (2260)
  • 80 mm (2280)
  • 110 mm (22110)

Storage expansion
  • Up to twenty-four 2.5-inch hot-swap SAS/SATA/NVMe drives
  • Up to two 7mm SATA/NVMe drives
Note
  • VROC supported.
  • Tri-mode adapters support RAID with U.3 drives.
  • When an M.2 backplane is installed and connected to the NVMe 11 connector, the maximum number of supported NVMe drives is twenty-two drives.
  • When the following components are installed in the system, the maximum number of supported drives is sixteen.
    • DRAM DIMMs with capacity larger than 128 GB
    • ConnectX-7 NDR200 QSFP 2-port adapter or ConnectX-7 NDR400 QSFP 1-port adapter with Active Optical Cable

Note
When a ThinkSystem Intel I350 1GbE RJ45 4-port OCP Ethernet Adapter is installed, no other OCP module can be installed.
Graphics processing unit (GPU)
The server supports the following GPU configurations:
  • Up to four single-wide, LP GPUs
  • Up to two double-wide, FHFL GPUs

  • Lenovo XClarity Controller (XCC), which provides service processor control and monitoring functions, video controller, and remote keyboard, video, mouse, and remote drive capabilities.

System fan
The server supports one of the following fan types:
  • Six 60 mm x 38 mm single-rotor fans
  • Six 60 mm x 56 mm dual-rotor fans
Note
Do not mix single-rotor and dual-rotor fans in the same unit of server.
Electrical input
The server supports up to two power supplies with N+N redundancy with oversubscription. Following is the list of supported types:

Important
Power supplies and redundant power supplies in the server must be with the same power rating, wattage or level.
CAUTION
  • 240 Vdc input (input range: 180-300 V dc) is supported in Chinese Mainland ONLY.
  • Power supply with 240 Vdc input cannot support hot-plugging power cord function. Before removing the power supply with dc input, please turn off server or disconnect dc power sources at the breaker panel or by turning off the power source. Then, remove the power cord.
Note
The actual power efficiency depends on system configuration.
Minimal configuration for debugging
  • Two processors in socket 1 and 2
  • Two DRAM memory modules in slots 10 and 26
  • Two power supply units
  • Six system fans
  • One 2.5-inch drive, one M.2 drive, or one 7mm drive (if OS is needed for debugging)
