Expansion slots
Four PCIe expansion slots are available:
  • Slot 1: PCIe Gen4 x4 lane in x4 slot (open-end), TDP 25W, FH/HL
  • Slot 2: PCIe Gen5 x16 lane in x16 slot, TDP 75W, FH/HL
  • Slot 3: PCIe Gen4 x4 lane in x4 slot (open-end), TDP 25W, FH/HL
  • Slot 4: PCIe Gen4 x4 lane in x8 slot, TDP 25W, FH/HL
Note
  1. PCIe slot 2 supports one GPU adapter when no other adapter is installed in PCIe slot 3.

  2. Broadcom 57414 10/25GbE SFP28 2-port PCIe Ethernet Adapter and Broadcom 57416 10GBASE-T 2-Port PCIe Ethernet Adapter can only be installed in slot 1 or slot 4.

  3. PCIe slot 4 supports one M.2 boot adapter.

  4. When a ThinkSystem Intel E810-DA2 Ethernet Adapter is installed, the following adapters are not supported:
    • Other ThinkSystem Intel Ethernet Adapters

    • ThinkSystem RAID 9350-16i 4GB Flash PCIe 12Gb Adapter

    • ThinkSystem RAID 9350-8i 2GB Flash PCIe 12Gb Adapter

    • ThinkSystem RAID 5350-8i PCIe 12Gb Adapter

    • ThinkSystem 4350-8i SAS/SATA 12Gb HBA

  5. Slot 1 and Slot 3 in the ST250 V3 are open-end design, which means that the slots can accept adapters with a longer edge connector than the physical length of the slot connector. For example, if a x8 adapter is installed in the x4 slot 3 of the server, half of the edge connector will not be connected to the slot. The adapter will still function, however performance will be impacted.

Graphics processing unit (GPU)
This server supports one GPU adapter in PCIe slot 2.
