Remove the fan cage assembly

Use this procedure to remove the fan cage assembly.

CAUTION
The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.
Attention
  • Read Installation guidelines to ensure that you work safely.

  • Power off the server and disconnect all power cords for this task.

  • Prevent exposure to static electricity, which might lead to system halt and loss of data, by keeping static-sensitive components in their static-protective packages until installation, and handling these devices with an electrostatic-discharge wrist strap or other grounding system.

  • If the server is in a rack, remove it from the rack.

  • If foot stands are installed on the server, rotate them inwards and lay the server on its side for easier operation.

Procedure

  1. Make preparations for this task.
    1. Remove the server cover. See Remove the server cover.
    2. Remove all the flash power modules. See Remove a flash power module.
    3. Remove the air baffle. See Remove the air baffle.
    4. Remove all the full-length GPU adapters. See Remove a full-length GPU adapter.
    5. Remove all the fans. See Remove a hot-swap fan.
  2. Remove the fan cage assembly.

    Fan cage assembly removal
    1. Lift and rotate the fan cage release latches to disengage the fan cage assembly from the server.
    2. Lift the fan cage assembly from the server.
