Removing the fan board

Use this information to remove the fan board from the server.

Read the safety information in Safety and Installation guidelines.

If you are replacing a server component or installing an optional device in the server, you need to slide the server out from the rack enclosure, turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cords and all external cables.

To remove the fan board, complete the following steps.

  1. Remove all the nodes (see Removing a compute node from a chassis).
  2. Remove the fan cage cover (see Removing the fan cage cover).
  3. Remove the system fan (see Removing a system fan).
  4. Remove the fan cage (see Removing the fan cage).
  5. Remove the cables from the power interface board.
  6. Remove the power interface board (see Removing the power interface board).
  7. Remove the power interface board bracket (see Removing the power interface board bracket).
  8. Remove the cables from the fan board.
  9. Remove the 10 6#32 screws from the fan board.
  10. Lift the fan board out of the server.
