Replacing the hard disk drive cage assembly

Use this information to replace the hard disk drive cage assembly.

Read the safety information in Safety and Installation guidelines.

If you are replacing a server component in the server, you need to slide the server out from the rack enclosure, turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cords and all external cables.

To replace the hard disk drive cage assembly, complete the following steps.

  1. Make sure the front I/O cable and the thermal sensor cable are placed properly on the hard disk drive cage.
  2. Do not damage the cables including the front I/O cable and thermal sensor cable during the installation.
  3. Align the hard disk drive cage assembly bottom with the cage pin holes on the server chassis.
  4. Lower the hard disk drive cage assembly into the server. Press the hard disk drive cage assembly inward until it is securely seated.
