About this task
Attention
- Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.
- Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.
- Power off the compute tray and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See Power off the rack solution.
- Slide the compute tray out on the rails to access the top cover, or remove it from the rack entirely. See Remove a compute tray from the rack.
- If one or more NVMe solid-state drives are to be removed, it is recommended to disable them beforehand via the operating system.
- Before you remove or make changes to drives, drive controllers, drive backplanes or drive cables, back up all important data that is stored on drives.
