Install a fan module

Follow instructions in this section to install a fan module.

CAUTION

The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

Hazardous moving fan blades nearby. Keep fingers and other body parts away.

Attention

• Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

• Make sure to replace a defective fan with another unit of the exact same type.

• Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.

Procedure

1. Align the fan module with the fan slot; then, lower the fan module into the fan slot.

2. Fasten the four captive screws to secure the fan module with a PH1 screwdriver.
3. Connect the fan cable to the system board. See Fan module cable routing.
