Install the fan direction switch with cable

Follow instructions in this section to install the fan direction switch with cable.

CAUTION

The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

Attention

• Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

• Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.

Procedure

1. Install the fan direction switch.
   1. Align the opening of the bracket with the guide pin on the chassis; then, insert the fan direction switch at an angle until it stops.
   2. Rotate the fan direction switch as shown until the switch is firmly seated in the slot.

2. Secure the fan direction switch with one screw.
3. Connect the fan direction switch cable to Air flow switch connector on the system board. See System-board connectors for cable routing to locate the connector.
