Remove the fan direction switch with cable

Follow instructions in this section to remove the fan direction switch with cable.

CAUTION

The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

Attention

• Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

• Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See Power off the server.

• If the node is installed in an enclosure or mounted, remove the node from the enclosure or mount. See Configuration guide.

Procedure

1. Make preparation for this task.
   1. If necessary, remove all the WLAN antennas. See Remove the WLAN antennas.
   2. Remove the top cover. See Remove the top cover.
   3. Remove the PMB air baffle. See Remove the PMB air baffle.
   4. Lift the riser assembly from the node. See Remove the riser assembly from the node.
   5. Remove the processor air baffle. See Remove the processor air baffle and air flow sensor board.
   6. Remove the top intrusion switch with cable. See Remove the top intrusion switch with cable.
   7. Remove the memory modules from DIMM slot 1 and DIMM slot 2. See Remove a memory module.
   8. Depending on the model, remove the processor side SMA assembly or the SMA filler. See Remove the SMA assemblies.
      Note

      To remove both the top intrusion switch with cable and the processor side SMA assembly or filler, the following procedure is recommended for easier operation:

      1. Disconnect the intrusion switch cable from the system board.
      2. Loosen the screw that secures the SMA assembly or filler.
      3. Loosen the screw that secures the intrusion switch.
      4. Pinch and slide the intrusion switch to remove it.
      5. Lift the SMA assembly or filler from the chassis.
2. Disconnect the fan direction switch cable from the system board.
3. Loosen the screw that secures the fan direction switch.

4. Remove the fan direction switch.
   1. Push the top of the switch with a pointed tool to disengage the switch from the slot.
   2. Rotate the switch as shown.
   3. Remove the switch from the chassis.
