Remove the processor air baffle and air flow sensor board

Follow instructions in this section to remove the processor air baffle and air flow sensor board.

The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

Procedure

  1. Make preparation for this task.
    1. If necessary, remove all the WLAN antennas. See Remove the WLAN antennas.
    2. Remove the top cover. See Remove the top cover.
    3. Remove the PMB air baffle. See Remove the PMB air baffle.
    4. Lift the riser assembly from the node. See Remove the riser assembly from the node.
  2. Proceed to the section corresponding to the configuration:

Remove the processor air baffle

Gently pinch the air baffle as shown; then, lift the air baffle to remove it.
Attention

For proper cooling and airflow, reinstall the air baffle before powering on the server. Operating the server with the air baffle removed might damage server components.

Remove the processor air baffle and the air flow sensor board

  1. Remove the processor air baffle with air flow sensor board.
    1. Gently pinch the air baffle as shown; then, lift the air baffle up.
    2. Disconnect the cable of air flow sensor board from the system board.
    3. Lift the air baffle out of the chassis.
    Attention

    For proper cooling and airflow, reinstall the air baffle before powering on the server. Operating the server with the air baffle removed might damage server components.

  2. Remove the air flow sensor board from the processor air baffle.
    1. Loosen the two screws that secure the air flow sensor board.
    2. Pull up the Mylar film.
    3. Lift the air flow sensor board to remove it from the air baffle.

  3. Disconnect the cable from the air flow sensor board.
