Install the processor air baffle and air flow sensor board

Follow instructions in this section to install the processor air baffle.

The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

  • For proper cooling and airflow, reinstall the air baffle before powering on the server. Operating the server with the air baffle removed might damage server components.

Procedure

  1. Adjust the processor air baffle according to the configuration. Pivot the divider until it clicks into place.

  2. Proceed to the section corresponding to the configuration:

Install the processor air baffle​

  1. Gently pinch the air baffle as shown, and align the air baffle tabs with the slots on the chassis.
  2. Lower the air baffle into the chassis until it is seated in place.

Install the processor air baffle and the air flow sensor board​

  1. Make sure that all installed fan modules are with rear-to-front air flow direction. If applicable, install fan modules with rear-to-front air flow direction. See Install a fan module.
  2. Connect the cable to the air flow sensor board.
  3. Install the air flow sensor board to the processor air baffle.
    1. Align the air flow sensor board with the processor air baffle; then, lower the air flow sensor board to the air baffle.
      Attention
      The air flow sensor board should be installed with the orientation shown in the following illustration.
    2. Stick the Mylar film onto the air flow sensor board.
    3. Secure the air flow sensor board with two screws.

  4. Install the processor air baffle with air flow sensor board.
    1. Connect the cable of air flow sensor board to the system board.
    2. Gently pinch the air baffle as shown, and align the air baffle tabs with the slots on the chassis. Then, lower the air baffle into the chassis until it is seated in place.
