Remove the compute node cover

Use this information to remove the compute node cover from a compute node.

To avoid possible danger, read and follow the following safety information.
  • S012
    hot surface
    CAUTION
    Hot surface nearby.
  • S014
    shock hazard
    CAUTION
Hazardous voltage, current, and energy levels might be present. Only a qualified service technician is authorized to remove the covers where the label is attached.
  • S021
    shock hazard
    CAUTION
Hazardous energy is present when the blade is connected to the power source. Always replace the blade cover before installing the blade.
  • S033
    240VA shock hazard
    CAUTION

Hazardous energy present. Voltages with hazardous energy might cause heating when shorted with metal, which might result in spattered metal, burns, or both.

Before you remove the compute node cover, complete the following steps:
  1. Read Installation Guidelines to ensure that you work safely.

  2. If the compute node is installed in a chassis, remove it (see Remove a compute node for instructions).
  3. Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, orienting the compute node with the bezel pointing toward you.

To remove the compute node cover, complete the following steps:

  1. Press on the release button and the push point at the same time and slide the cover toward the rear of the compute node.
  2. Lift the compute node cover away from the compute node.
  3. Lay the compute node cover flat or store it for future use.

If you are instructed to return the compute node cover, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
