Disassemble an M.2 drive assembly

Follow the instructions in this section to disassemble an M.2 drive assembly.

About this task

Attention

  • Prevent exposure to static electricity, which might lead to system halt and loss of data, by keeping static-sensitive components in their static-protective packages until installation, and handling these devices with an electrostatic-discharge wrist strap or other grounding system.

Procedure

  1. Remove the hot-swap M.2 drive assembly. See Remove a hot-swap M.2 drive assembly.
  2. Remove the M.2 drive from the interposer.
    1. Loosen the screw that secures the M.2 drive.
    2. Rotate the rear end of the M.2 drive to an angle.
    3. Remove the M.2 drive from the interposer slot.

  3. Remove the M.2 interposer.
    1. Loosen the four screws that secure the M.2 interposer.
    2. Lift the interposer off the tray.
