Remove the retimer board shuttle

Follow instructions in this section to remove the retimer board shuttle. The procedure must be executed by a trained technician.

Procedure

  1. Make preparation for this task.
    1. Pull the system shuttle to the stop position.
      1. Press the two blue release latches.
      2. Rotate the two release levers until they are perpendicular to the shuttle.
      3. Pull the shuttle forward until it stops.

    2. Remove the front fan cage. See Remove the front fan cage.
    3. Remove the NVMe drive and PCIe switch board cage. See Remove the NVMe drive and PCIe switch board cage.
  2. Disconnect all the cables from the retimer board.
  3. Remove the retimer board shuttle.
    1. Remove the two M3 shoulder screws from both sides of the system shuttle.
    2. Press the two blue release latches.
    3. Rotate the two release levers until they are perpendicular to the shuttle.
    4. Slide the shuttle forward and remove it from the system shuttle.
      Important
      Push the two release levers back until they lock into place after removing the retimer board shuttle from the system shuttle.

  4. To replace only the OSFP card sideband cable(s):
    • Removing the OSFP card sideband cable:

      Lift and pull back the cable to remove it from the retimer board shuttle.

    • Installing the OSFP card sideband cable:

      Align the cable with the slot on the retimer board shuttle and insert it; then, lower the cable to fit it into place.
