Disassemble the 8U GPU shuttle

Follow the instructions in this section to disassemble the 8U GPU shuttle before recycling.

About this task

Refer to local environmental, waste or disposal regulations to ensure compliance.

Procedure

  1. Remove all the power supply units. See Remove a hot-swap power supply unit.
  2. Remove all the rear fans. See Remove a hot-swap fan (front and rear).
  3. Remove all the front fans. See Remove a hot-swap fan (front and rear).
  4. Remove all the 2.5-inch hot-swap drives and the drive bay fillers (if any) from the drive bays. See Remove a 2.5-inch hot-swap drive.
  5. Remove the PCIe switch shuttle. See Remove the PCIe switch shuttle.
  6. Pull the 8U GPU shuttle out of the chassis, and place it onto the lift platform. See Remove the 8U GPU shuttle.
  7. Remove the cable cover. See Remove the cable cover.
  8. Remove the front fan control board assembly. See Remove the front fan control board assembly.
  9. Remove the I/O cover. See Remove the I/O cover.
  10. Remove all the 2.5-inch drive backplanes. See Remove a 2.5-inch drive backplane.
  11. Remove the integrated diagnostics panel. See Remove the integrated diagnostics panel.
  12. Remove the front PCIe switch cable harness. See Remove the front PCIe switch cable harness.
  13. Remove the power complex. See Remove the power complex.
  14. Remove all the rear fan control board assemblies. See Remove a rear fan control board assembly.
  15. Remove all the GPU air ducts. Depending on the configuration, see Remove an H100/H200 GPU air duct or Remove an MI300X GPU air duct.
  16. Remove the GPU complex. Depending on the configuration, see Remove the H100/H200 GPU complex or Remove the MI300X GPU complex.
  17. Remove the GPU complex adapter plate. See Remove the GPU complex adapter plate

After you finish

After disassembling the 8U GPU shuttle, recycle the unit in compliance with local regulations.
