2 x SAS/SATA backplanes

Follow the instructions in this section to learn how to do cable routing for two SAS/SATA backplanes.

Note
  • For more information about the power cable routing, see 2.5-inch drive backplane cable routing (server model with four PCIe risers).
  • When routing the cables, ensure that all cables are routed appropriately through the cable guides and cable clips.
  • Make sure to choose the cables based on the generation of RAID adapters that you plan to install:
    • Gen3 RAID/HBA adapters (9350-16i, 4350-16i, 9350-8i, 5350-8i, 4350-8i): Mini-SAS x4*2 to SlimSAS x8 cable
    • Gen4 RAID/HBA adapters (940-16i, 540-16i, 440-16i, 940-8i, 540-8i, 440-8i): SlimSAS x8 to SlimSAS x8 cable

Based on the location of the RAID/HBA adapter, select the corresponding routing path for SAS/SATA cable from the following table.
