Install the thermal sensor

Follow this procedure to install the thermal sensor.

Power off the server for this task

CAUTION

The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

Before installing the thermal sensor:

1. Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.

To install a thermal sensor, complete the following steps:

1. Route the thermal sensor cable through the hole on the front of the chassis as illustrated.

2. Align the sensor to the corresponding holes on the front of the chassis, and push the sensor towards the chassis until it clicks into place.
3. Connect the thermal sensor cable to the system board. To locate the connector on the system board, see System board components.
