Installing the power paddle card

Use this information to install the power paddle card.

Read the safety information in Safety and Installation guidelines.

If you are replacing a server component in the server, you need to turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cords and all external cables.

To install the power paddle card, complete the following steps.

  1. Carefully turn the server on its side so that it is lying flat, with the cover facing up.
    Attention
    Do not allow the server to fall over.
  2. Unlock and remove the left-side cover (see Removing the left-side cover).
  3. Remove the air baffle (see Removing the air baffle).
  4. Remove all PCIe cards from the system board.
  5. Remove the fan cage assembly (see Removing the fan cage assembly),
  6. Disconnect all connected cables from the system board and disconnect the cables from the power paddle card after removing the cover (see Internal cable routing and connectors).
  7. Remove the power supplies (see Removing a hot-swap power supply).
  8. Remove the system board (see Removing the system board),
  9. Grasp on the plunger of paddle card cage assembly and pull it toward the front of the server firstly, then, lift it out of the server.

  10. Disconnect the cables from the power paddle card (see Internal cable routing and connectors).
  11. Remove the existing power paddle card (see Removing the power paddle card)
  12. Align the fixed power paddle card to the server chassis . Then, fasten the 4 screws to secure the fixed power paddle card.

  13. Align the redundant power paddle card to the server chassis . Then, fasten the 6 screws to secure the redundant power paddle card.

  14. Reconnect the cables to the power paddle card (see Internal cable routing and connectors).
  15. Pull up the plunger of the power paddle card cover and gently put it down. Then, push it backward to the rear of the chassis until it clicks into place.

  16. Reinstall the system board (see Installing the system board),
  17. Reconnect all connected cables to the system board and reconnect the cables to the power paddle card before replace the power paddle card cover (see Internal cable routing and connectors).
  18. Reinstall the fan cage assembly (see Installing the fan cage assembly).
  19. Reinstall all PCIe cards from the system board.
  20. Reinstall the air baffle (see Replacing the air baffle).
  21. Install and lock the left-side cover (see Installing the left-side cover).
  22. Stand the server back up in its vertical position.

If you have replaced a server component or installed an optional device in the server, you need to reconnect the power cords and all external cables, and turn on the server and peripheral devices.
