Note
- This section does not apply to the IBM WebSphere DataPower Integration Blade XI50B Type 4195 appliance.
- The following illustration shows how to remove a GPU adapter from the BladeCenter GPU expansion unit.
- The illustrations in this document might differ slightly from your hardware.
To remove a GPU adapter from the BladeCenter GPU expansion unit, complete the following steps:
- Before you begin, read Safety and Installation guidelines.
- If the blade server is installed in a BladeCenter unit, remove it (see Removing the blade server from the BladeCenter unit for instructions).
- Remove the blade server cover (see Removing the blade server cover for instructions).
- If an expansion blade is installed on the expansion blade containing the adapter you want to remove, remove it (see Removing an optional expansion unit.)
- Remove the expansion-blade riser assembly from the BladeCenter GPU expansion blade:
- Disconnect the auxiliary power cable (A) from the GPU adapter, as shown in the following illustration.
- Loosen the screws and remove the retention bracket, then disconnect the cable from the expansion-unit system board (B).
- Locate the tray-release button on the bottom of the expansion unit.
- Press in and hold the tray-release button; then, pull the expansion-unit riser assembly out of the expansion-unit system board.
- Disconnect the auxiliary power cable (A) from the GPU adapter, as shown in the following illustration.
- Carefully turn over the expansion-unit riser assembly, and use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the four non-captive retaining screws, as shown in the following illustration. Store the screws in a safe location.
- Carefully turn the expansion-unit riser assembly back over. Unplug the GPU adapter from the PCI connector in the riser assembly and lift it out of the riser assembly.
- If you are instructed to return the GPU adapter, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
