Install the PIB module

Follow instructions in this section to install the power input board (PIB) module.

CAUTION
The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.
Attention

  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

  • Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.

Proceed to the section corresponding to the PIB module to be installed.

Install the DC PIB module​

Procedure

  1. Insert the PIB module into the slot until it is firmly seated
  2. Secure the PIB module with one screw.

After this task is completed

  1. Reinstall the power module board. See Install the power module board (PMB).

  2. Complete the parts replacement. See Complete the parts replacement.

  3. If applicable, before connecting DC power source to the server, remove the header from the corresponding power connector.

    1. Loosen the two captive screws that secure the header; then, remove the header from the power connector.

    2. Store the header for future use.

      Note
      Install the header when the power connector is not used. The connector could be damaged without proper protection.

Install the AC PIB module​

Procedure

  1. Insert the PIB module into the slot until it is firmly seated
  2. Secure the PIB module with one screw.

After this task is completed

  1. Reinstall the internal power supply unit. See Install the internal power supply unit (AC PMB).

  2. Complete the parts replacement. See Complete the parts replacement.
