Remove the RAID adapter

Use this information to remove the RAID adapter.

Before you remove the RAID adapter, complete the following steps:

  1. Read Installation Guidelines to ensure that you work safely.

  2. If the compute node is installed in a chassis, remove it (see Remove a compute node for instructions).
  3. Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, orienting the compute node with the bezel pointing toward you.

  4. Remove the compute node cover (see Remove the compute node cover for instructions).

The RAID adapter uses a specific drive backplane.

  • If you need to remove the RAID adapter to access components on the system board (for example DIMM slot 25-36), there is no need to remove the drive backplane.
  • If you are removing only the RAID adapter to replace it or to replace a flash power module, there is no need to remove the drive backplane.

To remove a RAID adapter, complete the following steps:

  1. Locate the RAID adapter and interposer card in the compute node. If interposer card is installed in the compute node, remove the cable from the cable clip. This provides more space for pulling out RAID adapter later.
  2. Rotate the lever on the drive backplane to disengage the RAID adapter from the backplane connector.
  3. Slightly rotate the rear edge of the RAID adapter upward; then, remove it at angle as shown. Be cautious of the flash power module as it sits under the overhang of the compute node front panel.

  4. With cable connected to the RAID adapter, carefully turn the RAID adapter over in your hand to access the underside.
  5. Disconnect the cable by pressing the latch and pull the cable out of the RAID adapter.

If you are instructed to return the RAID adapter, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
