Remove the CFF RAID adapter

Use this information to remove the CFF RAID adapter.

CAUTION

The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

Attention

• Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

• Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See Power off the server.

• If the server is installed in a rack, remove the server from the rack.

• Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.

• Replacing the RAID adapter might impact your RAID configurations. Back up your data before the replacement to avoid any data loss due to a RAID configuration change.

Procedure

1. Remove the top cover. See Remove the top cover.
2. Record the cable connections on the CFF RAID adapter; then, disconnect all cables from the adapter.
3. Remove the CFF RAID adapter.

   1. Lift and hold the release pin to disengage the CFF RAID adapter from the chassis.
   2. Slightly slide the CFF RAID adapter toward the pin; then, carefully pull it out of the chassis.
4. (Optional) If necessary, loosen the two screws on the CFF RAID adapter; then, separate the RAID adapter from the tray.
