Install the rear hot-swap drive assembly

Use this information to install the rear hot-swap drive assembly. This topic applies only to server models that support the rear hot-swap drive assembly.

Before installing the rear hot-swap drive assembly, touch the static-protective package that contains the new rear hot-swap drive assembly to any unpainted surface on the outside of the server. Then, take the new rear hot-swap drive assembly out of the package and place it on a static-protective surface.

If you are installing the ThinkSystem SR650 Rear 3.5 HDD kit Without Fan (provided for Chinese Mainland only), the maximum supported processor TDP is 125 watts.

To install the rear hot-swap drive assembly, complete the following steps:

Watch the procedure. A video of the installation process is available:

  1. Align the mounting stud on the system board with the corresponding hole in the rear hot-swap drive assembly. Meanwhile, align the rear of the rear hot-swap drive assembly with the corresponding rail guides in the rear of the chassis. Then, carefully press the rear hot-swap drive assembly straight down into the chassis until it is fully seated.

  2. Connect the signal cable to the rear hot-swap drive assembly and the RAID adapter. See Internal cable routing.
