System board switches
Use this information to locate the system board switches.
Read Installation guidelines to ensure that you work safely.
Prevent exposure to static electricity, which might lead to system halt and loss of data, by keeping static-sensitive components in their static-protective packages until installation, and handling these devices with an electrostatic-discharge wrist strap or other grounding system.
- Turn off the server before you move the switches; then, disconnect all power cords and external cables. Do not open your server or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the following information:
- Any system board switch that is not shown in the illustrations in this document are reserved.
1 SW3 switch block | 2 SW2 switch block |
Switch number | Default position | Description | Definition |
---|---|---|---|
8 | Off | Trusted Platform Module (TPM) physical presence | Changing this switch to the On position indicates a physical presence to the TPM. |
7 | Off | ME recovery | Changing this switch to the On position boots ME to recovery |
6 | On | Low security | Keeping this switch in the On position allows transitioning between signed official IMM builds and IMM test signed builds, and bypasses CRTM boot check of iMM firmware. |
5 | Off | Real time clock (RTC) reset | Changing this switch to the On position resets the RTC. A momentary toggle is all that is required. To avoid excessive CMOS battery drain, do not leave this switch in the On position. |
4 | Off | Password override | Changing this switch to the On position overrides the power-on password. |
3 | Off | Serial function selection | Off: function as system serial port. On: dump UEFI debug message to serial port. |
2 | Off | BMC Remote debug | Keeping this switch in the off position enables BMC remote debug. |
1 | Off | ME security override | Changing this switch to the On position disables ME Security checks. |
Switch number | Default position | Description | Definition |
---|---|---|---|
8 | Off | Force BMC and CPU reset | Changing this switch to the On position forces BMC and CPU reset. |
7 | On | Power permission override | Changing this switch to the Off position ignores Power Permission and allows the system to power-on. |
6 | Off | Trusted Platform Module (TPM) physical presence | Changing this switch to the On position indicates a physical presence to the TPM. |
5 | Off | BMC boot primary | Off: XCC boots from upper half of flash region. On: XCC boots from lower half of flash region. |
4 | Off | Force XCC reset | Changing this switch to the On position forces XCC into reset. |
3 | Off | IMM force update | Changing this switch to the On position forces XCC to boot from kernel code only. |
2 | Off | XCC Trusted Platform Module (TPM) physical presence | Changing this switch to the On position indicates a physical presence to the XCC TPM. |
1 | Off | Force FPGA reset | Change this switch to the On position forces FPGA into reset. |
