Application concepts

Application instances are deployed to provide functions for a user. The instances can be generated from templates, which can be downloaded from the Lenovo Cloud Marketplace and stored in a template store (at the organization level or at the VDC level).

• Application instances
  An application instance is one or more virtual machines (VMs) grouped together to provide a particular set of software capabilities for a user. Application instances are deployed within a virtual datacenter.
• Application templates
  An application template is a "gold master," system-prepared (sysprep) image of an application instance. Templates facilitate easy and instantaneous creation of application instances; a single template can be used to create any number of instances.
• Lenovo Cloud Marketplace
  The Lenovo Cloud Marketplace makes it easy to search, select, purchase and deploy cloud applications and services in minutes. It includes both public and private pre-built, ready-to-run and reusable, application virtual machine templates that can be deployed instantly.
• Template store
  Templates, whether created internally or downloaded from the Lenovo Cloud Marketplace, are stored in the template store in Cloud Controller. The template store is a portion of a storage pool; and, as such, it is a local, private storage space that can only be accessed by users within your organization.
