Disassemble the node for recycle
Follow instructions in this section to disassemble the node before recycling the node tray.
About this task
Attention
Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to make sure that you work safely.
- Power off the node (see Power off the node); then, disconnect all external cables from the node.NoteIf necessary, press the release clip with a flat-head screwdriver to remove an external network cable from the rear of a 2U node.
- Remove the node from the chassis (see Remove a node from the chassis); then, carefully lay the node on a flat, static-protective surface, orienting the node with the front toward you.
- Remove the top cover (see Remove the top cover).
- Disconnect all the cables from the drive backplane; then, remove the drive cage assembly from the node and place it on a flat, static-protective surface (see Remove the drive cage assembly).
- Remove the firmware and RoT security module (see Remove the firmware and RoT security module).
- Remove all the installed processor and heat sink modules (see Remove the processor and heat sink).
- Remove the heat sink support bracket.
- Remove all the memory modules (see Remove a memory module).
- If necessary, remove the M.2 drives (see Remove an M.2 drive).
- Remove the microSD card (see Remove the MicroSD card).
- If the GPU air duct is installed in the node, remove it (see Remove the GPU air duct).
- Disconnect all the fan cables from the system board; then, remove all the fans from the fan cage (see Remove a fan).
- If the PCIe riser assembly is installed, remove it from the node and disconnect the PCIe cables from the system board (see Remove the PCIe riser assembly and Internal cable routing).
- Remove the power bus bar (see Remove the power bus bar).
- Disconnect the power distribution board cables from the system board; then, remove the power distribution board (see Remove the power distribution board).
- If the rear OCP and rear I/O module cables are connected to the system board, remove them (see Rear I/O and OCP module cable routing).
- Remove the rear I/O module (see Remove the rear I/O module).
- Remove all the installed cable ducts.
- Disconnect all the cables from the system board.
- Remove the system board (see Remove the system board (Trained technician only)).
