Remove the drive backplane

Use this information to remove the drive backplane.

Before you remove the drive backplane:
  1. Read the following section(s) to ensure that you work safely.
  2. Turn off the corresponding compute node that you are going to perform the task on.

  3. Remove the compute node (see Remove a compute node from the enclosure).

  4. Remove the compute node cover (see Remove the compute node cover).

  5. Slightly pull out all the drives or fillers from the node to disengage them from the drive backplane (see Remove a hot-swap drive or Remove a drive bay blank).

Complete the following steps to remove the drive backplane.

  1. Disconnect the power cable from the system board.
    Attention
To avoid damaging the system board, make sure to follow the instructions in Internal cable routing when disconnecting cables from the system board.
  2. Disconnect all the signal cables from the backplane.
  3. Pull the two latches and lift the backplane to disengage and remove the backplane from the node.
  4. Disconnect the ambient sensor cable.
  5. Disconnect the power cable from the backplane.

If you are instructed to return the component or optional device, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
