Supported hardware and software

Ensure that your environment meets the hardware and software requirements for using Lenovo SDI Management Platform.

Host system​

Lenovo SDI Management Platform runs in a virtual appliance on the host system.

Hypervisor requirements

Lenovo SDI Management Platform can be installed in the following hypervisors:

  • VMware ESXi 8.0
  • VMware ESXi 7.0
  • VMware ESXi 6.7

Hardware requirements

To use Lenovo SDI Management Platform, virtual appliances must meet the following minimum requirements. Depending on the size of your environment, additional resources may be required to achieve the optimal performance.

  • 4 virtual processor cores
  • 20 GB memory
  • 551 GB of storage shared by 3 attached disks: 251 GB for virtual devices (Disk 0); 100 GB for updating the storage (Disk 1); 200 GB for storing management data (Disk 2) :::note Note After you set up the Lenovo SDI Management Platform, you cannot increase or decrease the disk size used for updating the storage. :::

Software requirements

The Lenovo SDI Management Platform requires the following software:

  • NTP server. Consider using a Network Time Protocol (NTP) server to ensure that the timestamps of all events and alerts received from resource managers and managed devices are synchronized with the Lenovo SDI Management Platform time. Ensure that the NTP server is accessible through the management network (usually via the Eth0 interface). If the NTP server is not configured, the Lenovo SDI Management Platform time will be synchronized with the system time of the host where the platform is installed by default.

Managed resource managers​

Lenovo SDI Management Platform supports the following resource managers:

  • VMware vCenter version 7.0 and later. Lenovo SDI Management Platform manages, monitors, and configures virtualized resources managed by VMware vCenter, such as hosts, virtual machines, and vSAN storage.

  • Lenovo XClarity Administrator version 3.6 or later. Lenovo SDI Management Platform manages, monitors, and configures physical devices (such as servers) managed by Lenovo XClarity Administrator.

  • Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager version 11 or later. Lenovo SDI Management Platform protects virtual machines in clusters by using backup and replication capabilities provided by Veeam Backup \& Replication.

Supported Lenovo hardware support managers​

Lenovo SDI Management Platform is integrated with VMware vSphere Lifecycle Manager and supports integrated lifecycle management of VMware ESXi hosts. VMware vSphere Lifecycle Manager supports Lenovo XClarity Integrator for VMware vCenter version 7.0 and later.
