Administering Lenovo SDI Management Platform
Several administration activities are available, such as configuring system settings including date and time and network access, connecting resource managers, managing authentication servers and user access, and managing security certificates.
Connecting resource managers Lenovo SDI Management Platform monitors and manages devices through resource managers.
Using VMware Tools When you install a Lenovo SDI Management Platform in a VMware ESXi-based environment, the VMware Tools package is installed in the guest operating system of the virtual machine. This package provides a subset of the VMware tools that support optimized virtual-appliance backup and migration while preserving application state and continuity.
Configuring network settings You can configure a single network interface (using IPv4 and IPv6 settings), Internet routing settings, and proxy settings.
Configuring the date and time You must set up at least one (and up to four) Network Time Protocol (NTP) server to synchronize the timestamps for Lenovo SDI Management Platform with events that are received from resource managers.
Using security certificates The Lenovo SDI Management Platform uses SSL certificates to establish secure and trusted communications with resource managers (such as Lenovo XClarity Administrator) and users. By default, Lenovo SDI Management Platform and resource managers use self-signed certificates generated by Lenovo SDI Management Platform.
Managing users and user sessions User accounts are used to log in to and manage Lenovo SDI Management Platform.
Controlling access to functions Lenovo SDI Management Platform uses roles and user groups to determine which functions (actions) a user is allowed to perform.
Managing disk space You can manage the amount of disk space that is used by Lenovo SDI Management Platform by deleting files that are no longer needed.
Shutting down and restarting Lenovo SDI Management Platform When Lenovo SDI Management Platform shuts down, its connection to the Orchestrator server is lost.
Backing up and restoring Orchestrator server data Lenovo SDI Management Platform does not have built-in backup and restore functions. Instead, use the backup functions that are available based on the virtual-host operating system on which Lenovo SDI Management Platform is installed. When Lenovo SDI Management Platform shuts down, its connection to the Orchestrator server is lost.
Cluster scope You can configure the clusters that need to be managed.
