Backing up and restoring server data

Lenovo SDI Management Platform does not include built-in backup and restore functions. Instead, use the backup functions that are available based on the virtual-host operating system on which Lenovo SDI Management Platform is installed.

About this task

Always back up Lenovo SDI Management Platform after performing the initial setup and after making significant configuration changes, including:

  • Before updating Lenovo SDI Management Platform

  • After making any network changes

  • After adding users to the local authentication server of Lenovo SDI Management Platform

  • After managing new resource managers

If you have backup and restore procedures in place for virtual hosts, ensure that your procedures include Lenovo SDI Management Platform.

Important:

  • Ensure that all running jobs are complete and that Lenovo SDI Management Platform is shut down before you create a backup.

  • Ensure that you back up Lenovo SDI Management Platform on a regular basis. If the host operating system shuts down unexpectedly, you might not be able to authenticate with Lenovo SDI Management Platform after the host operating system is restarted. To resolve this problem, restore Lenovo SDI Management Platform from the last backup.
