Remove the OCP Ethernet adapter

About this task

Attention
  • Go over Installation Guidelines to ensure that you work with safety.

  • Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables (see Power off the server).

  • If the server is installed in a rack, slide the server out on its rack slide rails to gain access to the top cover, or remove the server from the rack.

Procedure

  1. Make preparations for this task.
    1. If applicable, remove the security bezel (see Remove the security bezel).

    2. Remove the top covers (see Remove the top covers).

    3. Remove the air baffle (see Remove the air baffle).

  2. Loosen the captive screw, and slide the adapter out from the chassis.

After this task is completed

  • Install a replacement unit if necessary (see Install the OCP Ethernet adapter).
  • If you are instructed to return the component or optional device, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.

  • If you plan to recycle the OCP adapter, complete the following steps.

    1. Loosen the two captive screws that secure the cover to the adapter, and remove the cover.

    2. Separate the adapter from the lower cover.

    3. Recycle the parts in compliance with local regulations.
