Remove the front I/O module

Follow instructions in this section to remove the front I/O module.

About this task

Attention

Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.
Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See Power off the server.
If the server is installed in a rack, slide the server out on its rack slide rails to gain access to the top cover, or remove the server from the rack. See Remove the server from rack.

Procedure

Make preparation for this task.
1. Remove the top cover. See Remove the top cover.
2. (SXM5 GPU Model only) Depending on the configuration, disconnect the power cable from the CX-7 carrier board (connected to the power connector 1) or the SXM5 PCIe switch board.
Disconnect the front USB, video and external diagnostics handset cables of the front I/O module from their respective connectors on the system board assembly. See System-board-assembly connectors for more details.
Remove the front I/O module.
1. Remove the front I/O module retention screw.
2. Lift the front I/O module out of the chassis.
