Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.
Two people and one lifting device on site that can support up to 400 lb (181 kg) are required to perform this procedure. If you do not already have a lifting device available, Lenovo offers the Genie Lift GL-8 material lift that can be purchased at Data Center Solution Configurator. Make sure to include the Foot-release brake and the Load Platform when ordering the Genie Lift GL-8 material lift.
Note
Make sure you have a torque screwdriver available to properly replace the component.
Procedure
Place the free ends of the three rear fan control board cables over the L-shaped edge at the rear-right corner of the system shuttle (as viewed from the rear), ensuring they hang outside the shuttle to prevent damage.
Install the GPU shuttle.
Hold the GPU shuttle by the two handles (1) on the GPU baseboard. Then, align the GPU shuttle with the opening at the rear of the system shuttle, and carefully insert it partway.
Push the two handles (1) down.
Push the GPU shuttle fully into the system shuttle until it passes the arrowed lines stamped on the rear of the system shuttle.
Note
DO NOT lift the GPU shuttle by the OSFP support tray.
Make sure two people stand on either side of the GPU shuttle, and install it by holding the two handles on the GPU baseboard.
Figure 1. GPU shuttle installation
Tighten the six screws in the following sequence to secure the GPU shuttle.
First, tighten the two screws marked with F-1.
Then, tighten the four screws marked with F-2.
Note
Tighten the screws with a torque screwdriver set to the proper torque. For reference, the torque required for the screws to be fully tighten is 1.7 newton-meters, 15 inch-pounds.
Figure 2. Screw installation
Engage the retimer board shuttle with the GPU shuttle.
Press the two blue release latches.
Rotate the two release levers until they are perpendicular to the shuttle.
Slide the retimer board shuttle fully into the system shuttle
Rotate the two release levers until they lock into place.
