Verifying the vSAN cluster

Make sure that the vSAN cluster is fully functional.

vSAN cluster services

Complete the following steps to validate vSAN cluster services:
  1. Select the newly created vSAN cluster in the inventory. The cluster tab page appears.

  2. Choose Configure > vSAN > Services. The vSAN Service tab page appears.

  3. Verify the settings for the services.



vSAN datastore

Complete the following steps to validate the vSAN datastore:
  1. Click the Storage icon from the main vCenter page. Then, select the target datacenter.

  2. Choose vSAN Datastore > Configure.

  3. Verify the settings for the storage properties under the tab page.



vSAN OSA disk group configuration

Complete the following steps to validate the vSAN OSA disk group configuration:
  1. Select the newly created vSAN cluster in the inventory. The cluster tab page appears.

  2. Click Configure > vSAN > Disk Management. The Disk Management page appears.

  3. Verify the settings for the disks.



vSAN health monitoring

Complete the following steps to monitor the health of the vSAN:
  1. Select the newly created vSAN cluster in the inventory. The cluster tab page appears.

  2. Choose Monitor > vSAN > Skyline Health. The Skyline Heath page appears.

  3. Check the cluster health status. You should not see any failures on the tests conducted. If there are failures, examine the failures and the suggested remediation.



vSAN Proactive Tests

Make sure that the cluster components are working by running proactive health tests on the cluster.
