Removing a memory module

Use this information to remove a memory module.

Before you remove a dual inline memory module (DIMM), complete the following steps:
  1. Read Safety and Installation guidelines.
  2. If the compute node is installed in a NeXtScale n1200 Enclosure, remove it (see Removing a compute node from a chassis for instructions).
  3. Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, orienting the compute node with the bezel pointing toward you.

To remove a dual inline memory module (DIMM), complete the following steps:

  1. Remove the cover (see Removing the compute node cover).
  2. Remove the air baffle (see Removing the air baffle).
  3. Remove the ServeRAID SAS/SATA controller first if you remove DIMM 13, DIMM 14, DIMM 15, or DIMM 16.
  4. Carefully open the retaining clips on each end of the DIMM connector and remove the DIMM.
    Attention
To avoid breaking the retaining clips or damaging the DIMM connectors, open and close the clips gently.
