Install a drive backplane

Follow instructions in this section to install a drive backplane.

About this task

To avoid potential danger, make sure to read and follow the safety information.

Attention
  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to make sure that you work safely.

  • Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the node and chassis; then, take the component out of the package and place it on a static-protective surface.

Procedure

  1. Make preparations for this task.
    1. Remove the drive cage assembly from the node and place it on a flat, static-protective surface (see Remove the drive cage assembly).
  2. Install the drive backplane.
    1. Align the drive backplane with the corresponding guide pins on the drive cage; then, lower and insert the drive backplane into place.
    2. Tighten the screws to secure the drive backplane.

After this task is completed

  1. Reconnect all the required cables to the drive backplane; then, reinstall the drive cage assembly to the node (see E3.S drive backplane cable routing and Install a drive cage assembly).
  2. Make sure that all the required cables are routed and connected correctly; then, reinstall the top cover (see Install the top cover).
  3. Reinstall the node into the chassis (see Install a node to the chassis).
  4. Reinstall all drives and drive fillers (if any) to the node (see Install a hot-swap drive).
  5. Make sure that the required power supply units are installed and power cords are connected; then, power on the node (see Install a hot-swap power supply and Power on the node.)
  6. Proceed to complete the parts replacement (see Complete the parts replacement).
