Remove the WLAN/Bluetooth modules

Follow instructions in this section to remove the WLAN/Bluetooth modules.

CAUTION
The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

Procedure

  1. Make preparation for this task.
    1. If applicable, remove the WLAN antennas. See Remove the WLAN antennas.
    2. Remove the top cover. See Remove the top cover.
    3. Remove the PMB air baffle. See Remove the PMB air baffle.
    4. Lift the riser assembly from the node. See Remove the riser assembly from the node.
  2. Locate the WLAN/Bluetooth module to be removed.


    1 x86 WLAN module (with two cable connectors)2 XCC WLAN and Bluetooth module (with three cable connectors)
  3. Disconnect the cables from the WLAN/Bluetooth module.
    1. Pinch and press the side of the cable holder; then, lift up one end of the cable holder from the wireless adapter.

    2. Pivot the cable holder to 2 unlock position.

    3. Hook the cable with the wrench as shown; then, gently remove the cable from the connector and the cable clip.
      Note
      Repeat this step until all the cables are removed from the WLAN/Bluetooth module.

  4. Remove the WLAN/Bluetooth module heat sink.
    1. Loosen the two captive screws that secure the heat sink.
    2. Lift the heat sink to remove it.

  5. Remove the WLAN/Bluetooth module.
    1. Press the retainer to disengage the WLAN/Bluetooth module.
    2. Lift up the front end of the WLAN/Bluetooth module at an angle.
    3. Remove the WLAN/Bluetooth module from the slot.
