Install the fan cage

Follow instructions in this section to install the fan cage.

CAUTION

The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

Attention

• Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

• Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See Power off the server.

Procedure

1. Make preparation for this task.
   1. Before reinstalling the fan cage, make sure to remove all the fan modules from the fan cage. See Remove a fan module.
   2. Make sure the fan control board is installed properly. See Install the fan control board (FCB).
2. Install the fan cage.
   1. Push the fan cage toward the chassis until the guide pin is seated in the large opening of the guiding slot on fan cage.
   2. Lower the fan cage down into the chassis.
   3. Fasten the two thumbscrews to secure the fan cage.
