Remove the fan control board (FCB)

Follow the instructions in this section to remove the fan control board (FCB).

CAUTION

The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

Attention

• Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

• If applicable, remove the security bezel. See Remove the security bezel.

• Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See Power off the server.

• If the server is installed in a rack, remove the server from the rack. See Remove the server from the rack.

Procedure

1. Make preparation for this task.
   1. Remove the top cover. See Remove the top cover.
   2. Remove all the fan modules. See Remove a fan module.
   3. Remove all the PCIe assemblies. If the configuration comes with PCIe riser 2 and internal drives, remove all the internal drives, and lift the internal drive backplane before removing PCIe riser 2. See Remove the PCIe riser assembly.
   4. Remove the processor air baffle. See Remove the processor air baffle.
   5. Remove the fan cage. See Remove the fan cage.
2. Disconnect all the cables from the fan control board.
3. Remove the fan control board.
   1. Loosen the thumbscrew that secures the fan control board.
   2. Slide the fan control board until the guide pins on the chassis are seated on the large opening of the keyholes; then, lift the fan control board to remove it.
