Remove the processor air baffle

Follow instructions in this section to remove the processor air baffle.

Note
Depending on the configuration, the air baffle might look slightly different from the illustration in this section.

Procedure

  1. Make preparation for this task.
    1. Remove the top cover. See Remove the top cover.
    2. Remove all the PCIe assemblies. If the configuration comes with PCIe riser 2 and internal drives, remove all the internal drives, and lift the internal drive backplane before removing PCIe riser 2. See Remove the PCIe riser assembly.
      Note
      For the configurations with GPU power cable, disengage all the GPU power cables from the processor air baffle before removing PCIe riser assembly.
  2. Grasp the air baffle and carefully lift it out of the chassis.
    Attention
    For proper cooling and airflow, reinstall the air baffle before turning on the server. Operating the server with the air baffle removed might damage server components.
