Remove the M.2 air baffle

Follow instructions in this section to remove the M.2 air baffle.

Attention

Procedure

  1. Make preparation for this task.
    1. Remove the top cover. See Remove the top cover.
    2. If applicable, remove all the internal drives. See Remove an internal drive.
    3. If applicable, remove the internal drive backplane. See Remove the internal drive backplane.
    4. If applicable, remove internal drive cage. See Remove the internal drive cage.
  2. Loosen the two screws that secure the M.2 air baffle; then, remove the air baffle.
    Attention
    For proper cooling and airflow, reinstall the air baffle before turning on the server. Operating the server with the air baffle removed might damage server components.

  3. If necessary, separate the front half and rear half of the M.2 air baffle.
    1. Press the nubs to disengage the rear half.
    2. Separate the rear half from the front half.
    Note
    For the configurations with internal drive cage, install only the front half of the M.2 air baffle.
