Remove the internal drive cage

Follow instructions in this section to the internal drive cage.

CAUTION

The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

• If applicable, remove the security bezel. See Remove the security bezel.

• Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See Power off the server.

• If the server is installed in a rack, remove the server from the rack. See Remove the server from the rack.

Procedure

1. Make preparation for this task.
   1. Remove the top cover. See Remove the top cover.
   2. Remove all the internal drives. See Remove an internal drive.
   3. Remove the internal drive backplane. See Remove the internal drive backplane.
2. Loosen the four captive screws on the internal drive cage; then, lift the internal drive cage to remove it.
