Remove the power distribution board

Use this information to remove the power distribution board.

CAUTION
The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.
Attention
  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

  • Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See Power off the server.

  • If the server is installed in a rack, remove the server from the rack.

  • Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.

Procedure

  1. Make preparations for this task.
    1. Remove the top cover. See Remove the top cover.
    2. Remove all the hot-swap power supply units. See Remove a hot-swap power supply unit.
    3. Disconnect the flash power module cable from the RAID adapter. See Flash power module cable routing.
    4. Remove the flash power module. See Remove the flash power module.
  2. Remove the two screws.

  3. Carefully slide the power distribution board cover forward and lift it out of the server.

  4. Disconnect the cables from the power distribution board. See Power distribution board cable routing.
  5. Remove the two screws on the power distribution board.

  6. Remove the power distribution board.
    1. Lift the power distribution board at an angle.
    2. Carefully slide the power distribution board backwards and remove it out of the server.

After you finish

  1. Install a replacement unit. See Install the power distribution board.

  2. If you are instructed to return the component or optional device, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
