Install the system battery
The system battery is in the I/O tray that is accessed from the rear of the server. With the I/O tray removed from the chassis, insert the system battery in the I/O tray.
When replacing the lithium battery, use only Lenovo specified part number or an equivalent type battery recommended by the manufacturer. If your system has a module containing a lithium battery, replace it only with the same module type made by the same manufacturer. The battery contains lithium and can explode if not properly used, handled, or disposed of.
- Throw or immerse into water
- Heat to more than 100°C (212°F)
- Repair or disassemble
Dispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations.
When replacing the system battery in the server:
- You must replace the system battery with another battery of the same type from the same manufacturer.
- After you replace the system battery, you must reconfigure the server and reset the system date and time.
Before installing the system battery:
To install the system battery, complete the following steps:
Complete the following steps to install a system battery.
- Follow any special handling and installation instructions that come with the replacement battery.
- Face the positive (+) symbol toward the center of the I/O tray; then, place the battery into the battery retainer.
- Press the top of the battery into the retainer until it clicks in place.
After installing the system battery, complete the following steps:
Install the adapter in slot 8. See Install a PCIe adapter in slot 5 to 8.
Install the riser for slot 1 to 4 (riser 1). See Install the riser for slot 1 to 4 (riser 1).
If any of the adapters in the I/O tray have internal cables, make sure that they are connected before installing the I/O tray.
Install the I/O tray in the chassis and connect all cables. See Install the I/O tray.
Reconfigure the server and reset the system date and time. See System configuration.
